Alcoa is conveniently located between Knoxville and Maryville. Alcoa got its name from the large aluminum plant located in this area, and was formerly known as North Maryville before being incorporated in 1919. This area has grown in recent years, with the addition of shopping and restaurant options. It has a quaint atmosphere and provides a convenient location to call home near the Smokies, local airport, and other amenities.

Outdoor Activities

Alcoa is home to many lovely parks and green spaces. Residents make great use of the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway, which connects popular Springbrook Park to the Bicentennial Greenbelt Park in Maryville. Alcoa is a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which offers numerous outdoor recreation options.

Rich History

Alcoa has a rich history tied with the smelting of aluminum. In fact, many of the city's streets are named for famous scientists, inventors, as well as engineers.

Transportation

Alcoa is a convenient place to call home, just 12 miles south of Downtown Knoxville and home to McGhee Tyson Airport. Alcoa Highway is a main thoroughfare, as well as Pellissippi Parkway, which connects Alcoa to West Knoxville and Oak Ridge.
